Hi, I'm Gina! A yoga, body movement, & fitness instructor in the Hudson Valley.

About Gina DuBois

I want to help you to develop a yoga practice that supports an active lifestyle. Using my functional body movements and specifically designed yoga sequences you will increase your strength and stability, correct imbalances, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance your overall recovery so you can enjoy a lifetime of activity, fun, and adventure. Do you want to get out there and live an active life? Let me help you do it with my yoga!

After practicing a more traditional style of yoga for years, I was left with weak and overstretched hamstrings, a lack of strength and power in my hips and shoulder joint instability. A consequence of too much time spent in passive stretches, forcing myself into gymnastic, contortionist-like shapes and not enough attention to moving my body in multi-directional and functional ways. All of which inhibited my performance in many of my athletic pursuits and resulted in numerous injuries.

I often felt like I had to choose. Yoga OR Athletics.

So, I decided to dive deeper into the study of Anatomy & Physiology & Sports Medicine and overtime, a brand new yoga practice developed.
And you know what occurred along the way?

Not only was I able to participate and feel strong in the activities that I loved but my yoga practice became stronger. My favorite yoga poses were more stable and my body, much more balanced. A definite WIN-WIN!

Now, I?m passionate about helping other active yogis do the same. I want to see my students thrive both in their yoga practice AND in their life!

Whatever your active life includes, it will require a balanced mix of strength, stability, mobility, and flexibility training as well as time for both mind and body recovery & restoration.

You?ll discover my classes include a mix of all the movements your body should be doing; pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting, and rotating. All in the context of yoga.

My sequences are designed to activate and build strength in weakened muscles, increase joint stability and range of motion, improve balance, relieve tight and constricted tissues and recover both mind & body using breathing and meditation practices.

You love yoga. But you also might love running, hiking, cycling, rock climbing, kayaking, horseback riding, skiing, or swimming. Maybe gardening for hours is your thing.

All together my modern take on yoga will lead you to smoother and more efficient movement, fewer injuries, and ultimately optimal performance in your adventures.

You can expect to leave my classes calm, content, and with a clearer understanding of your own body and its subtle patterns and with the knowledge that your yoga practice is supporting your goals towards a healthy, balanced & active life.
